About Us
I have been a writer/editor/market analyst in the hardwood lumber industry for the past 15 years. With an undergraduate degree in forest science and an MBA, I currently research and write for a family of four trade journals that cover domestic and international hardwood lumber markets and the manufacturing sectors they serve. I started SkyWriting Editing Services in December of 2005 and have been writing and editing on a contractual basis for the software, insurance and financial services industries.
My flight training began 21 years ago in a Piper Tomahawk. After 9 lessons, I washed out…partly from a lack of resources; partly from the strain of trying to simultaneously learn to aviate/navigate/communicate and avoid DC-9 traffic at Dane County Regional in Madison, WI. (I later learned that good instructors teach these skills incrementally, and that good students are mature enough to learn them.)
Some 15 years, a beautiful wife and three great kids later, I picked up flying again and haven’t let go…from USUA ultralight certification to the successful completion of my private pilot ticket in March of 2004.
Now, I hope to leverage my writing experience, my business education and my lifelong love of flying into a viable newsletter for Charlotte-area aviators and aviation enthusiasts. I’m creating the publication I couldn’t find when I needed it, and that many pilots have told me is long overdue in this community. I’m glad you’ve chosen to come along for the ride.
I have also teamed with a graphic designer and website developer to help with the online, email and print delivery of The Charlotte Flyer. Together, SkyWriting Editing Services and ®Seeds Design offer a full range of writing, editing, graphic design and website development services—an excellent on-demand resource for your small to medium-sized business.
Please contact me anytime with editorial ideas and suggestions for improvement of The Charlotte Flyer.
